SPYRAL is a Melbourne-based jazz trio featuring Tristan Meffre on tenor saxophone, Charlie Rank on double bass, and Alfie Pleasance on drums. Rooted in the melodic and exploratory language of 20th-century jazz, the trio draws inspiration from the open forms and compositional sensibility of artists such as Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, while approaching the music with a contemporary ear.
